A good though short history of Baptist origins in America. Waldron briefly gives the story of how the Particular (Reformed) Baptists first came to dominate religious life in America and then, for various reasons, lost or abandoned their beliefs, opening the door for Modernism/Liberalism, Dispensationalism, and other departures from the historic Christian faith. It very quickly sketches the recent recovery of the historic Baptist heritage and gives some applications for Baptists today.
The book could be improved by an update (much has happened in Baptist circles in the past 30 years) and by being expanded. Nevertheless, this is an excellent little introduction to a study of American Baptist history.
